At Wormholt Park we strive to achieve an environment where children can play, feel relaxed and be comfortable. When children feel emotionally safe and secure they are able to explore and find out about the place they are in and the things they can see, touch, manoeuvre or manipulate. The EYFS environment is described in terms of three aspects: Indoor, Outdoor and the Emotional Environment.
Our community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum and we celebrate many traditions, learning new skills which enable the children to take an active role in events throughout the year.
In our EYFS we enable children to learn by following their interests. We provide stimulating opportunities throughout our EYFS curriculum to support learning, consolidate and deepen knowledge, and in turn ensure children make progress towards their next steps. Therefore, our curriculum is designed with the child in mind. We believe that our environment needs to be constantly changing and adapting, so that we can provide the best learning environment.

We know parents and carers are a child’s first and most important teacher. At Wormholt Park Primary School, we promote strong partnerships with parents/ carers and the wider community. Our parents/carers are welcome to be actively involved in their children’s learning in school and are able to share learning experiences through ‘Stay and Play’ sessions, Mystery Reader opportunities, Home Learning Club and Parent Workshops. We value involvement and any contributions to judgements about children’s learning that parents and carers can give us. We use this information to support our assessments and share information about what children need to do next to progress in their learning and development.
In our EYFS, we are committed to providing a broad, balanced and appropriately differentiated curriculum. Our incredible indoor and outdoor learning environments facilitate child-initiated play alongside adult led tasks. We provide children with carefully planned opportunities, which allow them to explore, create and learn through exciting, stimulating, interactive and accessible resources. The framework ‘Development Matters’ was produced by Dr Julian Grenier with support from the Department for Education. We use this framework when carrying out observations, for assessment purposes, planning and to implement the requirements of the Statutory Framework for the EYFS.
